Perceived Teaching Effectiveness (PTE) Schedule for Stateside Courses

The student course evaluation administered through the Perceived Teaching Effectiveness (PTE) process is coordinated by the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development for stateside courses. PTE's are scheduled for every fall and spring semester. PTE inquiries for Extended Education courses should be directed to the College of Continuing and Professional Education.

All stateside course evaluations are administered via the online PTE portal. Students will be invited to participate in the PTE process via email from the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development.

  • A message with a link to class evaluation/s is sent to their CSUDH Toro email address. 
  • There is a PTE survey link in MyCSUDH.edu, located on the navigation menu. 
  • Students that have not completed their course evaluation will receive an email reminder message with a link to the survey. Students are encouraged to check their SPAM folder.
  • Students have access to complete their course evaluations from any desktop computer or mobile devices.
  • Participation is completely anonymous, and all responses are confidential.  
  • Instructors will be notified via email prior to the start of evaluations for 15-week ending courses and will receive an email communication to their courses to help monitor student response numbers throughout the evaluation period.  
  • The PTE course evaluation reports will be released at the end of the semester after all grades have been submitted.

Summer PTEs for Stateside Courses

PTEs may be administered for stateside summer session courses based on the request of the College Dean. Faculty members teaching stateside summer courses will be notified of the PTE schedule by the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development.

Perceived Teaching Effectiveness Timeline for Stateside Courses (Spring 2024)

These are the dates for the majority of 15-week student course evaluations (stateside); however, there are a few exceptions. Download PTE schedule [PDF]

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development will notify the departments to submit early ending course information.

February-April

PTE Period Opens for early ending stateside courses and will be processed on a case-by case basis.  Evaluations will be administered, and students may access the PTE survey via MyCSUDH or the link sent to their Toro campus email address.

February 16

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development will request the Division of Information Technology to load the 15-week course data to the PTE system.

March 4

FACULTY OPTIONAL QUESTIONS OPEN

The faculty will be notified by the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development via email when the Online PTE Optional Questions Form becomes available if they wish to add up to two (2) questions to the PTE survey.

March 29

FACULTY OPTIONAL QUESTIONS CLOSE

Last day for the faculty to add optional questions to the PTE survey by 11:59 p.m. PST.

March 4-29

Department Chair’s or Unit Head’s will have access to review the faculty courses to be evaluated via the Online PTE application.

April 15

STUDENT COURSE EVALUATION OPEN

PTE Period Opens for 15-week ending courses. Evaluations will be administered during the next 3 days. Students receive an email invitation to begin evaluating their stateside courses via the link sent to their Toro email address or via the portal MyCSUDH.edu. Faculty receive an automated email that the PTE survey has been distributed to the students.

April 22-May 10

Students receive email reminders for each course that is pending to be evaluated. Faculty receives an email with a count of student participation.

May 10

STUDENT COURSE EVALUATION CLOSE

Last day of scheduled classes and the last day for students to participate and complete the PTE survey for 15-week ending courses and late start classes scheduled to end in May the submission deadline is by 11:59 p.m. PST.

May 22

REPORT ACCESS

The PTE results become available to the faculty, Department Chair or Unit Head, and Academic Administrators. How to access the PTE results:

o   Log-in via the online PTE portal

o   Go to the PTE Reports tab and select PTE Results Report

Faculty may print their PTE Result Reports for courses they taught only. We recommend faculty keep a copy of their reports for their records and if applicable for inclusion in the RTP evaluation cycle. When ready to view and print, you will need to disable the pop-up blocker.
